Dr.Igor Tabrizian

Dr Tabrizian completed medical school at the University of Western Australia in 1982. He worked in hospital medicine in Australia and abroad for 14 years before venturing into a combined privatre practce of General practice and anaesthetics. With a love an dinterest in biochemistry he applied this knowledge in his general practice with good results. Consequently, his Nutritional Medicine practice is based on applied biochemsitry.
In 1999 he began to practice solely in Nutritional Medicine and now he runs a successful Nutritional Medicine clinic in Perth's northern suburbs, which trains and employs doctors interested in this speciality.
He has written 7 books on nutritional medicine including a textbook for medical practitioners. He lectures regularly around Australia to lay groups and health practitioners, and trains doctors in Nutritional Medicine.

Brain Food,Brain Poisons: Autism as a case in Point Brain Food,Brain Poisons: Autism as a case in Point
On Saturday November 27th 2004, Dr Igor Tabrizian delivered a lecture on Autism to a well-informed Sydney audience. The attendees gained insight into how clinical nutritionists examine the mechanisms and formulate treatment schedules for Autism. The lecture was again complemented by his "killer" graphics which made the difficult concepts simple.

The lecture looked at normal brain function with regards to nutritional needs of the mother and child. It examined the importance of tissue co-operation such as hormones, gut and brain in ensuring correct development of all the tissues in the growing child.

But in particular the lecture looked at where brain function goes wrong in Autism and more importantly why this is happening as a global epidemic. It examined the roles of genetics and antioxidants in the prevention and treatment of Autism and looked at the roles of toxic metals in the genesis of the disease and how these generate the symptoms of Autism.

Degenerative Diseases of the Brain: Nutritional Interventions Degenerative Diseases of the Brain: Nutritional Interventions

(Alzheimers, Parkinsons and Multiple Sclerosis)

Looks at the nutritional aspects of normal brain function as well as the current models of Neurodegenerative disorders. With progressively more understanding of the biochemistry of the brain we are able to prevent crippling disorders such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease and even Multiple Sclerosis.
There are nine "puzzle pieces" that we need for understanding the brain. And for each of the conditions you might research, one of these nine pieces, may well be more important than another, they involve things like the glial cell and nerve cell interactions, the amino acid metabolisms, functional deficiencies, membrane physiology, oxidation state management, epigenetics, tissue co-operation, mineral metabolism and metallo-toxicology. So we will look at these nine things first before we start looking at any particular condition.

The next thing about the central nervous system, the CNS, is that it has three points of vulnerability. The first one is the need to make the brain chemicals (the neurotransmitters), the next one is networking (and it is a huge thing), very poorly understood at the moment by science because of the limitation of how we can model networking. And the last one is lifespan (apoptosis).
Based on this data, nutritional interventions may be used to halt the progression of, and even reverse the disease process.

Nutrition:the Good, the Bad and the Politics Nutrition:the Good, the Bad and the Politics

This book is the revised combination of Dr Tabrizian's first two books "Nutritional Medicine: Fact and Fiction" and "Another Dose of Nutritional Medicine". The amalgamation of these two booklets and the addition of a section on Manganese, has allowed the author to publish a paperback format.

Subjects covered are the trace elements, the toxic elements, Coenzyme Q10, Cancer, Chronic Fatigue, Diabetes, Depression, ADD and most of all, the politics of Natural Medicines today. Expertly illustrated and extensively referenced, this book captures the knowledge and spirit of Nutritional Medicine today.

With humour to match the breadth of the subject matter, it is informative and entertaining.

New Hard Cover Edition

"The bottom line is that symptoms are caused by 2 reasons. Either the nutrient isn't there or it's being blocked."
This is the new way to think about Medicine. It is Diagnostic Orthomolecular Medicine (DOM).

Dr Igor Tabrizian has attempted to simplify the vast amount of data into bite size digestible pieces. His research journey included forays into scientific research that would be classed as "peripheral" to Modern Medicine (particle physics, metallotoxicology, veterinary medicine, macromolecular chemistry and environmental politics). Each of these disciplines held vital clues to providing the "Unified Theory of Medicine", which he terms "Cation Dysfunction Theory (CDT)". Using this theory he provides a molecular approach to solving common problems in General Practice.

For those with little time to scour textbooks for information, this book delivers excellent graphics to help solve clinical problems such as ADD, Depression, and Chronic Fatigue. Many of Dr Tabrizian's famous graphics from his lecture series are included in this 262-page volume. Well referenced, it allows practitioners to back up their clinical judgments.
